Introducing ... photography business workshop!

geelongphotographer

When I started my business, I was fumbling around in the dark. I knew I wanted to take my photography to the next level, but had no idea how. Just ask Amba how many frustrated nights I spent in front of the computer trying to work it all out. I spent months in a bleary haze of website design, pricing, sourcing products, etc. It.was.terrible.

One thing I realised during all this is that there aren't too many resources where all the information is all in one place. You've got to search and search through forums and websites to find it all. If you find anything at all.

So the seed for this workshop was planted way back then, and it's come to fruition now.

I'm happy, and proud, and excited to be kicking of this photography business workshop. You can see all the details on the workshop website.

The workshop is about helping people wanting to start a photography business through the maze. I want to equip people with the knowledge and tools they will need. And to spare them the long nights in front of the computer getting nowhere!

The workshops are also about helping newcomers to the photography industry enter it with their eyes wide open. I always believe it's better to nurture, whether that be nurturing children, plants, or new photographers. I want to help newbies find themselves, and find their own little corner of the photography world.

Big week on the horizon

I spent this past weekend in the company of my dearest friends. There was much talking, red wine drinking, lamb roast eating, and general high spirits. These girls (not all of whom are pictured) are my family. I would walk the earth for them. Sharing a weekend with them is like being home. Complete with home made blueberry and almond tart.

Big week coming up. I'm going to be announcing my new workshop and opening up places on Thursday. I'm going to be announcing it first in my newsletter, then 24 hours later here on my blog.

Oh, and what's the new workshop about? Well, a little clue is that it's not about teaching photography, but for people wanting to take their photography past the hobby stage. (Kinda big hint!)

Have a great week!

A winter wedding full of warmth

I'd really been looking forward to Georgie and Rob's wedding. Not only because it kicked off wedding season, but because I was looking forward to seeing them again. When we first met up we clicked instantly. They made me feel so welcome in their wedding. I'd been itching for their day to arrive.

And arrive it did, with sunshine and not a hint of rain. Being winter, the weather could have been pretty nasty, but we got one of those rare sunny, almost warm days.

When I arrived Georgie was a vision of absolute grace. She was excited, but calm. "I can't believe I'm this calm," she kept saying. I think she was just happy her wedding day was finally here and all her planning was falling perfectly into place.

Kudos must go to Georgie's bridesmaids. They were totally there for Georgie all day. They made sure everything was in it's place and exactly as is should be. They laughed, smiled and were a joy to be around.

My heart melted when I pressed the shutter on this photograph. That's Georgie's brother Cam that she's looking at. There is something unspoken, but so very real, in the look they are sharing.

The ceremony was held at St Mary's in Geelong. Have you been in that church? It's incredible. The monumental song they played as Georgie walked down the aisle nearly raised the roof.

Georgie attended Geelong College, so it was only fitting we went there for photos. The grounds of the school are stunning.

To you both, all my love and the very best. Thanks for sharing your day with me, and being so patient with me battling through with my tonsillitis. Stay in touch, I want to know about all the amazing things I'm sure you'll both go on to do.

Fresh air

I had to get out. After a week nursing the boys, and now starting to get sick myself, I had to get out of the house.

So Murphy and I went to the beach. It was a simple and wonderful as that.
